Valencia
Racing Santander to win

Racing's better points return and more active recent scoring profile make the home side the narrow preference.
Racing Santander are the slight favourites at El Sardinero, and I think that is fair despite both sides arriving with clear defensive issues. The hosts have at least found goals recently, while Valencia have lost four of their last five and remain in the relegation places. My match prediction is a narrow 2-1 Racing Santander win. Here is why the home side gets the nod.
Here's the thing: neither side walks into this one looking particularly secure, but Racing Santander have given themselves a better platform. They are 16th with seven points from seven games, three points clear of Valencia in 19th. More importantly for this specific fixture, Racing have scored nine times in their last five league outings. That run includes home wins over Alavés and Elche, both by margins that underline their ability to make something happen in attack.
The problem, obviously, is what happens at the other end. Racing conceded 18 goals across those same five matches, so I would not expect a calm, controlled home performance. Valencia should have opportunities, particularly because Racing have allowed 21 league goals already. Still, Valencia's own attacking return is modest: four goals in seven matches, and they have lost four of their last five. Their 1-0 away win at Alavés is the encouraging exception, but it does not fully outweigh the broader sequence.
I'm backing Racing because the hosts have the stronger recent scoring evidence and a small but meaningful standings advantage. Valencia's last five have included just one win, while their defeats to Real Sociedad, Sevilla, Barcelona and Deportivo La Coruña produced only three goals combined. A draw is a live danger in a matchup between two sides low in the table, and Racing's defensive record keeps the confidence measured. But for me, the home side are the more likely team to find the decisive second goal in a match where both defences leave room for error.
Racing Santander have the stronger case for a narrow home win in a game that should produce chances at both ends.
